Some men just can’t seem to get it right when it comes to their hair. Why is that? We asked Glenn, a Sine Qua non stylist, to give us some tips for the gentlemen in our lives.
Q: Why do you think so many men have trouble perfecting their hair?
A: The funny answer is that men are far from perfect and that, in and of itself, is the problem with a man trying to make his hair “perfect”. Another answer is that most men prefer a shorter, low maintenance hairstyle so as not to haven to fuss with too much styling.
Q: What would you suggest to a guy who wants to grow his hair out but hates that in-between phase?
A: My suggestion would be to fight through that phase. If he is committed to his vanity, a few awkward days of challenging hair will only make him stronger. : )
Q: What are some trends in men’s haircuts that you’d like to point out?
A: I think the new trend is definitely short, clean, barber style haircuts. These are classic haircuts that will never go out of style and are easy to maintain.
Q: Who are five celebrities or musicians who have awesome hair, in your opinion?
A: Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Jake Gyllenhaal, David Bowie, Johnny Cash
Q: What are some common missteps men make?
A: Most men use too much product. Be it waxes, mousses, pomades, etc., especially when their hair gets longer. That should be a good indicator that it’s time for a haircut.
Q: What’s one simple thing most men can do to make their hair look better?
A: If a man could do one thing to make their hair look better, that one thing would be to stop fussing with it. The more time a man spends “doing” his hair, to worse it looks, in my opinion.
